Like any school, we require regular attendance from our students.
Submitting assessable work regularly
In New Zealand, students between 6–16 years old must be enrolled in a school and attend regularly. Attendance at Te Kura means regularly submitting assessable work. Please encourage your student to send in assessable work at least every two weeks, or more often if their course requires it. If your student is not regularly submitting work, Te Kura may not be the best option for them.
If your student does not submit assessable work for an extended period of time, this means that they are truanting, and cannot remain on our roll. If they are under 16 years old, Te Kura must notify the Ministry of Education’s district truancy service.
We will send you a letter or email if your student has not sent any work for a month or more. They will be taken off our roll if no assessable work is received by the end of the following month. Students taken off the roll are referred to the truancy service if they are under 16 years old.
If special circumstances such as illness have prevented your student from returning work, contact your student’s learning advisor to discuss the situation.
Advising changes of address
To advise a change of address, contact your student’s teacher or learning advisor with your ID number and new address. Adult students should contact enrolment services on 0800 65 99 88.
